History of the District Fire Chiefs

On July 31, 1947, the North Central Fire Protection District became operational, with Irving H. Cordy installed by the District Commissioners as Fire Chief.   Operating with 2 fire engines and 4 fire station under constrution. By September 1947 all four stations were staffed with full-time firefighters. The Fire District has been lead by 10 former Fire Chiefs during its 75 year History.  In 2007 the District contracted for labor for more than a decade, until July 2018 when the Board hired it's next fire chief to recruit a new labor force and restaff it's fire stations.
